WinSoft Corp. was awarded a 5-year subcontract with the US NAVY – SPAWAR - to utilize its WISE Technology
October 11, 2004 – Santa Ana, CA – WinSoft Corporation, a global provider for Test and Measurement (T&M) obsolescence solutions, has responded to an increasing problem of T&M Automatic Tester obsolescence by developing the WISE Technology. WISE, WinSoft Instrument System Emulator, presents a form, fit, and function replacement for legacy systems (i.e. CASS, Grumman) with obsolete test instruments. The WISE is located between the computer/CPU and the new instrument(s). No changes to the software (TPSs) are required!
The WISE module can translate/emulate different instruments (i.e. Signal Generator, DMM, Spectrum Analyzer) therefore it is the only interchangeable generic solution in the market for ANY instrument (including synthetic instruments), ANY programming language and ANY communication protocol. A Built-in Web server enables remote upgrades, instrument swap and worldwide support.
Citing demands for a generic and long-term solution, Ehud Shany, WinSoft’s President and CEO states, “We wanted to respond to the many requests for a low cost solution, which can support a transparent replacement of old T&M instruments. The WISE technology ensures extension of Legacy Test System for 15 years or more. Its life-span will not be affected by new communication protocols or the obsolescence of operating systems such as Windows 98/XP/2000. We are proud to serve the NAVY with this contract, which adds to more than 50 units that have been ordered in the last 3 months. Working closely with Agilent Technologies (instrument replacement solutions) and National Instruments (PXI replacement solutions) enables WinSoft to support crucial DoD projects such as sensitive communication devices and ballistic missiles testing. Specifically designed with flexibility in mind, this compact (patent pending) technology can be quickly installed and supported anywhere in the world. Classified programs can be supported via Emails without revealing of data or source code.’’
SPAWAR Systems Center San Diego, Systems Support Engineering Division Head, Tri Hua adds, “We have been exploring other solutions for the last 3 years. SPAWAR identified 2 crucial Test Stations in which our calculation have shown that changes to a specific set of TPS would cost the government $2.2M. Several companies offered to perform a survey and assessment for more than $0.5M, which did not include the final solution. Using the WISE technology, the project was implemented for $200K. Moreover, the down time of the station that utilizes the WISE technology went from 50% to less than 2%. We will use the WISE technology, as a COTS solution, in the next few years to incrementally upgrade our Test Stations or support other DoD entities, which requires a life extension for their test systems.’’
The WISE technology uses COTS hardware to ensure a full support of its components for years to come.
