Agilent Technologies and WinSoft Inc. introduce a Code Compatible Replacement for the Legacy HP5340A Counter and HP54100D Scope
April 23, 2008 – Santa Ana, CA – WinSoft Inc., a recognized Test & Measurement Systems world leader, has responded to a growing need for the replacement of obsolete instruments while preserving the software in Legacy ATE (Automated Test Equipment).
The WISE, WinSoft Instruments System Emulator, enables the replacement of legacy instruments without modification to the existing software, drivers or TPS. The Multi-WISE, 1U in size, supports the replacement of a number of instruments simultaneously, with a variety of emulators available for download.
Access to the existing legacy software is not required and therefore, the WISE supports ANY programming language such as ATLAS, HP-BASIC and FORTRAN. Additionally, ATLAS translator, ATLAS migration or TPS migration are not required. Common communication protocol such as GPIB, USB and TCP/IP, and common instruments such as Rack & Stack, PXI and MMS modules, are supported.
An incremental approach enables replacement of instruments over time to fit into a stretched budget. A built-in web server provides worldwide support while built-in debugging tools provide support to restricted ATE. In operation for 5 years, the WISE extends the life for ATE such as Trident testers, F-15 testers and various Navy radio testers.
During Q1 2008, Agilent Technologies worked with WinSoft Inc. and delivered 16 WISE units for replacement of the HP 5340A ‘legacy’ counter with the newer Agilent- 53150A. These units were installed in legacy testers used by Mil/Aero companies to provide life extensions. As part of the project, the Agilent and WinSoft team also provided a WISE emulator to replace the legacy HP 54100D scope with a new Agilent 88104A.
